I like going into bookstores and browsing the titles, picking up the books and reading the back cover, that sort of thing. For me, it’s all part of the discovery of finding a new book. But I haven’t actually bought a book from a bookstore in a long while – all of my reading these days is done via listening to audiobooks.

It is funny, is it not, how we have such sentimental feelings for something inanimate? We went through the same thing with CD’s VS. Vinyl records when they first came out. I can’t see that there’s something missing other than the act of turning a page…When it comes down to it, it’s all just printed words, no matter what media they’re printed on.

I go to the book store maybe twice a month. There are some folks out there (like me) who aren’t going to stop buying paper books anytime soon. I have two books on order from Amazon.com right now. I don’t approve of Kindle or e-books. There’s something about a book that’s missing from that electronic format.

I believe that as more and more people adopt the new technologies; i.e. Audio books and e-books more and more paper-book stores are going to start to falter. Of course, there’s a way to keep the brick and mortar stores in play but…I’m not going to spill my beans just yet.
