It isn't wrong that they stopped the Zune HD in favor of WP7, but they need a WP7 device without a phone so that people can use the Zune without having an $80 per month phone contract. As it is now, there are few options, especailly for kids or for a family with children other than Apple. With apple I can get the little ones the iPod Nano, the preteens iTouch, and the adults can have a smartphone. All would be compatable with software, docks, etc. With MS, what do you do? It's a phone or nothing. You can do the xBox, but then you need a screen.

Zune is wonderful and the WP7 is great, but without a full ecosystem, it just doesn't work.

Also, they need to allow the Zune client on various set-top boxes, web-enabled TVs and bluray players. Otherwise I might as well use Rdio or Pandora. They aren't as good overall, but they will be convienent and in everyone's living room very soon.
