Stuck In Star Wars: The Old Republic. Literally. (Video)

Many people get trapped by Star Wars: The Old Republic because it’s a very WoW-like MMO, which is a double threat, but few get stuck in the game in the same way that Sam just did. Check out the video after the break!

Maddox Used To Have The Best Page In The Universe

Maddox Used To Have The Best Page In The Universe

The biggest thing I’ve learned working on FleshEatingZipper for the past year is that no man is an island and very few get to become internet celebrities purely by writing stuff. In those humble days before broadband internet and a little service called Napster had begun to seep into American homes, George Ouzounian (we know him better as Maddox) built and maintained a humble presence known as The Best Page In The Universe in which he crafted elaborate rants about whatever he absolutely despised that week. But as I mentioned, no man on the internet is an island, and Maddox’s moat-building skills leave his antics feeling dated, just like the counters he keeps on every one of his pages.

‘The Captains’ Movie Review – William Shatner’s Final Frontier

Did you grow up watching Star Trek like I did? Was Kirk, Picard, or one of the other, lesser captains of a titular starship or outpost a hero to you? Well, be prepared for William Shatner As Captain Kirk: The Movie, a film in which William Shatner can celebrate his most popular role, display his vast adoration for the crowds that adore him, and interview the subsequent Star Trek captains who hold reverence to him for allowing them to have jobs with incredible visibility. Do you get the hint that it’s self-serving, yet?

Revisiting Half-Life 2 On Xbox 360

Revisiting Half-Life 2 On Xbox 360

Your buggy, which is really just a loose frame of welded pipes with an engine and wheels strapped to it, reduces the oncoming beach bugs to squishy messes easily. It doesn’t seem like it should at all, especially since those beach bugs (antlions) have a lot of sharp corners that would surely shred your body as they went right through the buggy’s frame. It’s an acceptable trade of believability when you realize how well balanced Valve made this game. Modern gamers know Left 4 Dead and Portal, but those games couldn’t have existed if Half-Life 2, now seven years old, hadn’t changed shooters. I’ve already gushed about it when I said that Half-Life 3 was going to be nearly impossible to back up, but what’s it like to visit City 17 and its violent suburbs after a while? Let’s go on a trip in a buggy…

Sprint Strategy VP: Windows Phone Not Worth ‘Taking A Risk On’

Sprint Strategy VP: Windows Phone Not Worth ‘Taking A Risk On’

I was a Sprint customer for nine years before Google convinced me to move over to Verizon. One of the biggest questions I had was why Sprint wasn’t lining up behind Windows Phone more and why it gave the HTC Arrive (which was a decent, not great phone) such little berth to thrive on the carrier. The carrier had never come forward about this question, until now…

Sharing Music On Facebook With Spotify, Rdio Sounds Cool, Isn’t Yet

I thought being able to autonomously ‘tweet’ what song was playing on my computer to Facebook was pretty cool enough, but today Facebook unveiled music sharing. It was a feature they unveiled back at f8 in September, but is just now rolling into homes, much the same way Timeline is. But how awesome is it? Hrm…

Facebook To Pass One Billion Users In 2012. Make Sure Grandma’s On-board!

Can you recall those halcyon days when social networking was just for you and your friends? Back when you’d put up those ultra-zesty pictures of you at parties you’d just been to while sharing embarrassing secrets about things you really shouldn’t have done? While some can get away with it still, it’s the gentle notion that Facebook will approach a billion users this year that reminds us who’s using the service: everyone.

Need All The James Bond? On The Blu-rays?

Need All The James Bond? On The Blu-rays?

I hate this kind of stuff. When you have a film franchise, particularly one that you’re still adding installments to, it’s insanely stupid to keep seeing new compilations, remixes, and other arrangements of those films every few years, all marked as ‘the definitive edition’. With Star Wars, at least George Lucas is nearing the age where he graduates to a walker and can no longer formulate ways to destroy his own work. With that definitive Blu-ray release, you really only have to buy that set, ever. (Until they bring out the edition that features the original theatrical cuts.) These sets are fully equipped with big-ass boxes that don’t fit anywhere in your storage areas designed for amaray cases and will be rendered obsolete as soon as the new movie comes out and the new artwork arrives, they’re an atrocious monster that needs to be stopped. For the 50th anniversary of James Bond’s filmic debut, EON is releasing a ‘definitive’ Blu-ray set with the first 22 films armed and ready to go. Equipped with six Bond’s worth of movies from Connery to Daniel Craig (because he’s actually pretty cool), the set also includes 130 hours of behind the scenes footage, which is probably too much. Maybe. Enthusiasts only, please.

I Have Not Played The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim In Two Months

I Have Not Played The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim In Two Months

Yes, buried underneath a Woot! Monkey, a Mario doll, and a windshield wiper, is the massive, 600+-page hardbound strategy guide for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Unlike its predecessors Morrowind and Oblivion, I did not do a deep dive into this game. In fact Kelly, who has been keeping the disc warm in his Xbox for the past few weeks, has put more time into the game than I have. So why haven’t I played this game since the weekend after it launched?
