It looks like this deal is going through. The $100 million 5 year deal between Miramax and Netflix to provide more than 700 titles should be soon the WSJ is reporting.
Some of the titles we’ll see are Shakespeare in Love, Good Will Hunting, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and No Country for Old Men. There will also be some movies from the series Scream and Scary Movie. The reason it’s only some is because the later films were produced by the Weinstein Company and they own the rights.
With deals like these and the fact that Netflix is getting original programming I don’t think any other service will be able to compete against them.
