DayZ Mod Being Developed as a Standalone Game

The open world zombie mod for ARMA 2, DayZ, will be developed as a standalone game. It’s creator Dean Hall will be project leas as Bohemia Interactive, the makers of ARMA 2, develop the game. That is how crazy popular this mod is. Over 300,000 copies of ARMA 2 were sold on Steam in two months after it’s release making ARMA 2 the number one game for seven weeks.

The mod itself has over 1,000,000 registered users only 3 months after it’s release prompting the CEO or Bohemia Interactive, Marek Spanel, to say this to ShackNews. “[DayZ] creates an experience so addictive that I believe it can stand as a gaming experience on its own.” Bam, two months later we hear about this!

I actually can’t wait for this game to release. I’ve be wanting to play it so bad after seeing other people’s let’s plays but, because I’m lazy I haven’t bought ARMA 2 yet. Seems like a lot of work. The DayZ game is scheduled to release sometime this year as well as ARMA 3. Dean Hall promises to continue the development of the mod in correlation to the development of the standalone game.
