Eh, you know the drill.
Gameplay
If you’ve played Forza Motorsport before, you know what’s going to happen here. You race. As the series progressed, you’ve been able to add more and more ‘softcore’ options to alleviate you from the burden of knowing what the inside of a car does, but you’re going to race and race and race again. In the Drive Club sample, we were provided a two-lap hot circuit in the countryside, which isn’t entirely original for a racing game, but it was little segments that counted. One zone required you to place your best time within a hairpin. Another zone required you to be on your best drift as you came upon a perpendicular turn. Still another required your best speed. All of these were graded against other players I’d been playing against (the game took our photo in advance just to remind us who the top boss was) not unlike Forza Motorsport‘s cousin, Forza Horizon. While trailers have hinted at some diverse car-based gameplay in Forza Motorsport, Drive Club actually let me play it and that’s worth the score.
Winner: Drive Club
And now, the victor…
