The Nokia 1020 Is A Good Phone, Minus Everything About It

…But It’s A Windows Phone

Ahhh, man, this one hurts the most. As someone who was ready to buy into the entire Windows Phone ecosystem had they launched on Sprint in the Fall of 2010 instead of the following Spring with a single HTC model, this disappoints me the most. Windows Phone may finally be third in the smartphone OS wars behind Android and iOS, but it’s less them succeeding as it is BlackBerry failing so terribly. Not only is Microsoft getting slowly cut off from Google’s ecosystem entirely – one that I rely on to get things done – but the apps just aren’t arriving as fast as they should. The perfect application for a camera like this, Instagram, is nowhere to be seen. For every step Microsoft takes to improving Windows Phone, Google takes two with Android, the chasm between them far too large for me to switch over at this point.

If only Nokia would start experimenting
