Modern Warfare 3 Ad Condemned As ‘Hideous’ By Veteran, But He’s Way Off
In a recent editorial for The Atlantic, D.B. Grady, a former paratrooper and veteran of Afghanistan, tears into the centerpiece ad of Activision’s Modern Warfare 3 campaign. If you haven’t seen it (and we’ve included both ads after the break) it builds on last year’s Black Ops ads by featuring actor Sam Worthington teaching Jonah Hill the tricks of the trade when it comes to armed combat in hellish battlegrounds around the world. Grady posits that the ads are creating a false image of what being a soldier means, but Grady is missing the point of the ad entirely: it’s whole-cloth fantasy.

SOPA Support Drying Up As Gaming Companies Feel The Heat
We’ve talked before about the evils of the SOPA bill, which is temporarily shelved for Congress’ holiday recess, and that everything must be done to prevent its passage. The bill would allow the government to shut down entire web sites on the suspicion of transmitting or harboring pirated material. The Long, Slow Death Of Silicon Knights
Earlier this year, I wrote that Silicon Knights’ action-horror game Eternal Darkness was the best GameCube title ever made. I was actually indifferent to the game when I started playing it, but when my roommate became an observer, my appreciation went through the roof. There was something about its crafty gameplay and incredible narrative that won me over. “These guys are on to something,” I thought. Now nearly a decade later, it seems that the only thing that the Canadian game developer is on to is losing a lawsuit that has consumed most of the company’s essence for the past four years. Mass Effect 3 Will Be Significantly More Difficult
