FEZCast Monthly Caucus – Live from Phoenix Comicon 2011
From the floor of the 2011 Phoenix Comicon, we bring you the FleshEatingZipper Monthly Caucus Podcast! Don’t miss our first live podcast from the center of the action as we talk about the first two days of Comicon, from crazy Cosplay costumes to the Annual Zombie Walk to Keith’s photobombing to the Wily Wil Wheaton. Phoenix Comicon: Why Do You Hate Us, William Atherton?
“Here.” Johnny said, handing me a twenty. “Let’s get some pictures with him.” Before a massive Stay-Puft marshmallow man and Ecto-1 from the 1984 smash hit Ghostbusters sit William Atherton, who played the oppressive (and dickless) Walter Peck from that film. Like a starving orphan, I walked up to what looked like his manager with the slightly crumpled currency in hand. “Yes, I’d like two pictures with William Atherton.” I said, saying it to the manager, but looking right at William. He bounced right up, as friendly as could be.

Growing Up TV: Eek! The Cat
Eek! The Cat was slapped on our TV sets courtesy of Nelvana and Fox Children’s Productions. Later in my life I learned Canadian company Nelvana had owned the rights to a popular 80’s show known as the Care Bears. This explains why they had Care Bear spin-offs named “The Squishy Bearz” (I always wondered how they didn’t get sued for that, depicting the furry critters as completely incompetent. 11:51AM: Realizing my Chromebook is missing a rubber foot, a sticky, gaping maw replaces it. Where did it go? Better search my bag.
11:53AM: Still searching for the rubber foot. Has anyone seen it?

Growing Up TV: Earthworm Jim
Spawning many successful games, Earthworm Jim also had a cartoon series, debuting September 9, 1995. An ordinary earthworm has a super powered suit dropped on him thus turning him into the hero we all know. Watching this show growing up as a kid was awesome, my mother even laughed, and that’s hard to do, making this one of the most memorable cartoons in my childhood.

Day Zero Wrap-Up: A Dessert of Deserts
I really didn’t know what to think going into my first day at a Comic-Con (or Comicon as the Phoenix crew puts it). We knew that this first day was going to be a short day (it ran a weird 6PM to 11:30PM) and there were no major events planned, so, like, what to do…

Hello, Phoenix!
It’s hot here. When Kelly and I left the Springs yesterday, it was overcast and fifty degrees. When we arrived in Arizona’s capital yesterday, it was significantly warmer, despite being past sunset.
