The N5 Show: Week #18, 2013 – Monaco! 10 Years Of Nintendo Home Consoles!
Were you a GameCube fan? We seemed to enjoy it.
Ahead of N’s review of Monaco: What’s Yours Is Mine, he sits down with fellow thieves Cody and TC to discuss the Ocean’s Eleven-like indie game and all the chaos thereof! In our second segment, we talk about the commercial non-start of Nintendo’s Wii U console and the past ten years of their consoles that have lead the company to this point. Have any fond GameCube memories? Be sure to check this out, because we certainly weren’t favorable to the Wii!
IllumiRoom For Next Xbox Unveiled, But Can It Beat Oculus Rift?
This coffee table projection offers extended reality, but is it enough?
Originally unveiled at CES behind closed doors, IllumiRoom is Microsoft’s big new living room accessory for their next generation Xbox. The footage that leaked out, featuring splash damage and other, minor details breaching the boundaries of the TV, seemed unimpressive, but in full motion, the coffee table projector seems pretty neat… if you have the stadium-sized living room that Microsoft assumes you have.
FEZ BRO SHO: Week #17, 2013 – Nonsense, Star Trek: The Video Game
It’s too crazy up in here!
Things get a little crazy as N tackles the Maker’s Mark a little early! When he’s not blathering about this or whatever, we talk about remaking games, Iron Man, Star Trek: The Video Game, Duke Nukem Forever: The Album, bubbles, and puppies. Sorry, no puppies this time around.
‘EVE Online’, Meet Oculus Rift [UPDATED With Video]
All we really need are gaming pods at this point, right?
EVE Online is a pretty fun game if you can fall in the right crowd. Well, maybe fun is too strong a word considering at its most actionable, the game keeps you a relative distance from the actions involving your ship. It’s an emotional gulf that puts you at odds with a lot of the game’s universe, which has kept the player population down to its most hardcore. So how do you resolve that? Well, I guess you can play Dust 514, but what you really want is some Oculus Rift action, of course!

‘Strip Search’ Recap: Season 1, Episode 17 “SS Grand Prix”
OMGOMGOMG
Hell. Yes. It’s been almost twenty years since I’ve driven a go-kart. My dad egged me on because I met the height requirement (I was kinda tall as a kid), so on that last time we went to Omaha’s Fun-Plex, I was sure to give it a go. I was afraid of wrecking the kart, I was afraid of wrecking someone else’s kart, I was afraid of anything involving go-karting, but once I was going, I was gone. Mmmm… oh, right, Strip Search!
‘Thief’ Game Unveil Was Smoke And Mirrors, Development Extremely Troubled
Scary.
Thief 4, once a sequel, now a fully rebooted Thief game, has been in development for five years and will come upon six when it finally releases next year. When a game is in development for that long, one can expect that the game’s development was troubled, or at least misguided and meandering for a time. As it turns out, Thief‘s development at Eidos Montreal has been so hampered that their Game Informer reveal last month was out of panic, not of pride.
NBC Renews ‘Parenthood’! …and ‘Revolution’, I Guess
Not pictured: me caring about anything else.
If you don’t know me by now, I’ll let it slide, but also let you know that I continue to hate TV, especially now that NBC’s track record fails to impress. Community has gotten way too soft, even after the disastrous premiere, Revolution‘s lost its spark, but Parenthood keeps on trucking, because it’s a big ol’ truck with lots of gas and… mileage… and family values? Look, I’m trying to say NBC’s renewal of Parenthood ensures I’ll have something to watch on Hulu come Fall, now that The Office is wrapping up.
Spotify Adds Discover Feature To Recommend Music, Finally
There’s no way any civilization could drive electricity from felines.
I need new music. I always need new music, but my tastes are pretty peculiar – maybe everyone’s are – so even a dedicated recommendation engine like Pandora can get it wrong too often. Others are useless. Spotify was in that well too, but they’ve righted it by finally including a new tool to bring you new music ideas. It brings some clever components to the table, but is Discover a worthy of a recommend of its own, yet?
‘The Bureau’ Is The ‘XCOM’ Shooter Reborn… Again
It’s finally for real!
Today the leak regarding the XCOM shooter’s transition to The Bureau was confirmed, although the game will still sling the XCOM name as a byline. The game’s ultra-secretive development comes to light, putting you in charge of an ultra-secretive development within the government responsible for taking out strange alien threats. Also, there’s a new trailer!
