FleshEatingZipper’s Minecraft Server In Pictures – Week 2
Burn, baby, burn!
Has it really been, like, a week and a half since we started our Minecraft server? (Check out last week’s pics here!) It sure has! That hasn’t stopped our crazy progress in and around Ravine City, though. We’ve welcomed a few newcomers and, believe it or not, spent a lot of time mining. Let me explain.
Zaxxon Escape Review: It’s Like Temple Run, But In A Ship
C’mon baby, let’s do the twist!
If you’re like me, you’ve played the original Zaxxon (on our fourth-grade classroom’s Apple IIe, mind you!) and you think Temple Run is thematically uninteresting. Really, a bunch of apes chasing a scared adventurer down a series of randomized paths until it simply becomes impossibly difficult to play? Boring. But, turn your adventure into blaster-enabled spaceship and the apes into flames licking your ship’s rear end and you’ve got Zaxxon Escape. How good is it? Really good.
SimCity Already Game Of The Year? EA Releases New Gameplay Video
People arrive by the trainload to gamble. Trains! Gambling!
The more I see of Electronic Arts’ SimCity reboot, the more I like it. I was skeptical that Maxis could pull off such a thorough reinvention of the series, but as layers are peeled away, we see how they’ve turned SimCity from a grid-based simulation based on a number of abstractions to a game in which roads and zones can be planted freely and each aspect of the city is modeled piece by piece, not unlike how strategy games Of Olde like RollerCoaster Tycoon handled individual tourists.
People Don’t Like Adele’s “Skyfall” For The New Bond Film? Huh?
Let the skyyyy faaaaaaallllllll…
We know we’re getting close to the release of a new Bond film when its theme song releases to the masses. Adele isn’t on my radar musically, but I can’t deny she’s incredibly talented. That said, people are giving her new song, the appropriately titled Skyfall, some noise for not being as iconic as previous themes. So with that, I decided to take a look at the past decade’s worth of Bond themes and compare them.
Halo’s Forward Unto Dawn: We Interview The Executive Producers Of The New Web Series
Halo’s ships always have such bizarre names, don’t they?
Tomorrow, the new Halo web series Forward Unto Dawn debuts on Machinima Prime and Halo Waypoint, giving us a look into the struggle of a class of new UNSC recruits. I got to sit down with the series’ Executive Producers Josh Feldman and Lydia Antonini and discuss the series’ origins and how it fit into the Halo universe.
Facebook Is A Chair, Hits One Billion Users
Facebook, chairs. Facebook, chairs… Okay, now I get it.
It’s hard to believe, but just three years ago, Facebook was only a fifth of its current size, which still dwarfed any social network ever created to that point. The idea that having that many people onboard at a time created a sense of ubiquity. This was a social network that was appealing to far more than fifteen year olds and rock bands, this was something your grandma could use. And grandma showed up, and your brother and your cousin came, too. Now Facebook, even with its purging of fake accounts, can now claim a billion active users a month. One. Billion.
What Is Epic Games Without Cliff Bleszinski?
CliffyB in 2000.
I’d heard the name Cliff Bleszinski before PC Gamer featured him as a New Gaming God in November of 2000, but I wasn’t quite sure what his angle was. This was a guy who’d done a colorful platformer (Jazz Jackrabbit) and come off the colorful, yet thoroughly monotonous first-person shooter Unreal during his time at Epic Games, a North Carolina developer he started with at the tender age of seventeen. But with twenty years of service at the Gears of War shop, Cliff Bleszinski, known by his old frag handle, CliffyB, is leaving. What is he taking with him?
MoviePass Is The Netflix For Movie Theater-goers. Are You In?
The web site’s not that exciting, but the service sure seems like it.
While many of us have embraced subscription pioneer Netflix for our movie and TV show-watching needs, you’re still limited to whatever setup you’ve got at home and whatever Netflix has available, which, and let’s be fair here, there’s still a lot of content holes there. So what options does the theater-goer have for a subscription? What happens to the person who still wants that big screen experience? Well, Moviepass might have your best option.
“Fat” News Anchor Addresses Internet Bully, Fails To Address The “Fat”
A news anchor addresses the world’s most vile foe: someone from the internet.
I know two things: I’m fat and I’ve been on the internet long enough to know what a troll is. In a passionate editorial that’s quickly making the internet rounds, WKBT anchor Jennifer Livingston addresses a specific e-mail from a concerned writer who doesn’t actually watch her program. In it, the writer makes the point that as a local celebrity, she has an obligation to be a good example to those who would look up to her, namely by being in shape. Jennifer then replies, but despite her passionate plea, she fails to address a critical issue: America needs to lose weight.
Solar Warfare Review: To Fly Around In A Spaceship And Shoot Things
It definitely LOOKS pretty.
Solar Warfare is an admirable 3D shooter. Developed by one guy and now available on iOS, Android, and compatible Nooks, you can pick this game up for a whopping ninety-nine cents. At that value, it’s pretty much a no-brainer, but is it worth your time?
