You can also drive everywhere, and though your car can mow over the undead in smaller numbers, larger numbers will quickly slow you down and overwhelm you. The world is populated with “Safe Zones” where you can store weapons and clothing. You also gain “PP” points by killing zombies, which levels up your character and allows you to unlock certain skills and attributes, which you can then use to build more weapons.
A year has gone by and Microsoft is still struggling to make Smartglass seem appealing and relevant. They seem to have decided now that the only way to make people care about Smartglass is to limit specific game options to Smartglass. In Dead Rising 3, you can use your Smartglass-enabled tablet to order an airstrike on particularly dicey areas, for example. You can also use Smartglass to get info about the city and set waypoints. This doesn’t need to be on a totally separate device, but Smartglass hasn’t been able to prove itself on its own, so they’re now treating it like a way to access special powers and abilities.
One last note – Capcom’s Dead Rising 3 booth is one if the best in the show this year. It’s a blood-spattered gas station with zombies reaching through the chain link fence to grab at E3 attendees as they pass by. All that’s missing is a Sledge-Saw…
