2011 – The Year In Review – By Bercley Lloyd Fernando And Splash Image

Every once in a while you come across one of those things that makes you sit back and reflect a little.

This is one of those things.

Read on.

We’ve had a fan, since back before FleshEatingZipper even started…back when we were just a little podcast on a HUGE site, which shall remain nameless. That fan’s name is Bercley and we’re pretty sure he’s the superfan. Not only did he follow us from our first site, through to the second we were on, which never worked out, but then he managed to find us here, as well, and has been a loyal reader, listener and commenter since day one. He’s also managed to spread the word of our existence to the U.K., from his base in London, where we are nearly as popular as we are in the States. I don’t know how much of that is due to him but I’ll damned sure give him some credit.

If it were just for those things alone, I’d mention this video anyway but that’s not the case. The fact is that I really like it. It has heart…soul…It speaks to people.

This is a retrospective on the year 2011, as seen through the eyes of Bercley, and his company Splash Image where he serves as Operations Overlord.

I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did.

Bercley also has a series of artistic images he created, which he calls “Humandroid”. My interpretation of the set is as a statement of the human condition…of being conditioned. Of being robotic. Cold. Isolated while surrounded by 7 billion people. You should check it out when you get a chance.

And finally, to Bercley: Thanks for being a fan, man. I’m proud to count you as one of mine and now I’m proud to say I’m one of yours, too. Cheers, brother!
