Unified Search
A massive pain with Windows 8’s Search charm – which Microsoft has revealed is the most popular by far – is that unlike Android, search results are siloed. This means that you can search for anything you want, but be sure to select the right category first or you won’t find anything. Now, you have a unified search that presents all results, whether apps, files or otherwise in one field. Great!
Improved Multi-Tasking
Windows 8’s multi-tasking is fine for a tablet where previous examples are decent at best, but having two apps open at the same time is unheard of. In 8.1, you’ll now be able to open apps by simply clicking on a file and it’ll simply slide into view. If you have more real estate, you’ll even be able to open three, four or more apps at the same time. Pretty cool!
