Mother’s Day Review: The Perfect Gift…For the Mother You Hate

I suppose the most surprising thing about Darren Lynn Bousman’s Mother’s Day isn’t that it is a horror movie about Mother’s Day—nearly every other holiday has already gotten the horror treatment by now—but that it’s also a remake. This movie is the perfect gift for the man who hates his mom. Mother’s Day is a nasty piece of torture porn that will leave you actively hating the human race, which is not at all surprising since this flick comes from the guy who directed Saw II, III, and IV.

And here we are, now a month into the Oceana project. This week the pyramid began to take on its final form and we had to say goodbye to a few elements dear to our massive pyramid. Still, progress has remained steady despite a smaller group of key personnel. Because I’m A Contrarian Jerk: I Thought The Avengers Was Rubbish

Before we start, let me note that most of the staff thought The Avengers was a pretty good film. You can even read our official review, done by Rob. That said, I came out of the theater with a very different opinion after two and a half hours of superhero malarkey: I thought it kinda sucked. I can’t be the only one in the world to believe so, but I’m obviously in the minority. So what was wrong with The Avengers? A lot. (Also: there are going to be plenty of spoilers, so please don’t advance unless you’ve seen it. Or simply don’t care.)

So I sat down and watched “The Avengers”. Here’s what I thought of it.
