Need All The James Bond? On The Blu-rays?

Need All The James Bond? On The Blu-rays?

I hate this kind of stuff. When you have a film franchise, particularly one that you’re still adding installments to, it’s insanely stupid to keep seeing new compilations, remixes, and other arrangements of those films every few years, all marked as ‘the definitive edition’. With Star Wars, at least George Lucas is nearing the age where he graduates to a walker and can no longer formulate ways to destroy his own work. With that definitive Blu-ray release, you really only have to buy that set, ever. (Until they bring out the edition that features the original theatrical cuts.) These sets are fully equipped with big-ass boxes that don’t fit anywhere in your storage areas designed for amaray cases and will be rendered obsolete as soon as the new movie comes out and the new artwork arrives, they’re an atrocious monster that needs to be stopped. For the 50th anniversary of James Bond’s filmic debut, EON is releasing a ‘definitive’ Blu-ray set with the first 22 films armed and ready to go. Equipped with six Bond’s worth of movies from Connery to Daniel Craig (because he’s actually pretty cool), the set also includes 130 hours of behind the scenes footage, which is probably too much. Maybe. Enthusiasts only, please.

Overrated Actors #1 – Daniel Craig

Overrated Actors #1 – Daniel Craig

Let me tell you, I am NOT a fan of Daniel Craig. If you show me somebody who says they like his body of work then I’ll show you a liar. When he got his breakthrough role in Layer Cake, I’ll be honest with you, I was bloody impressed. The way he portrayed a man who thinks he is better than the rest of us despite being an obvious scumbag, was, I think we’ll all agree, masterful. Almost as if, to prep for the role, he spent 30+ years living as an elitist dick, just to truly get a feel for what the role demanded. Read the rest of this article…

Windows Phone Proves it’s Faster Than Other Phones at CES 2012

Ben the PC guy went to CES to challenge other phones to a speed competition to prove that Windows Phones are faster than the competition. The challenges were simple post to Facebook the fastest, take a photo and upload to Twitter that fastest, identify a song the fastest, etc. If Windows Phone lost the challenger would receive $100, but if you lose then you have to say that you just got smoked by a Windows Phone. I Have Not Played The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim In Two Months

Yes, buried underneath a Woot! Monkey, a Mario doll, and a windshield wiper, is the massive, 600+-page hardbound strategy guide for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Unlike its predecessors Morrowind and Oblivion, I did not do a deep dive into this game. In fact Kelly, who has been keeping the disc warm in his Xbox for the past few weeks, has put more time into the game than I have. So why haven’t I played this game since the weekend after it launched?

Intel Shows Off DirectX 11 But Not Really

Yeah so this is pretty bad. At CES Intel was trying to show off DirectX 11 for Ultrabooks by showing a racing demo, cool stuff right? They got a steering wheel hooked up and everything then he hit play, huh? They thought they were being pretty slick after pretending to drive then eventually saying that he can drive without hands because they are actually playing it backstage. Right, using VLC media player to play it back stage… Take a look at the for yourself. Read the rest of this article…

At $249.99, Kinect For Windows Is A Massive Rip-Off

At $249.99, Kinect For Windows Is A Massive Rip-Off

At Microsoft’s last CES keynote, the company unveiled that a dedicated version of the Xbox 360 Kinect sensor would be arriving specifically for Windows on February 1st. If you’ve been under a rock since the Kinect released originally, you’ll know that hackers and modders have taken the sensor through its paces to develop some really cool applications, including 3D modelling, crazy motion capture, and all of this at a higher resolution than the Xbox 360 can handle natively. What Microsoft didn’t unveil tonight was the price, which is an absolutely gob-stopping $249.99. Yes, for over twice as much as a Kinect sensor that you can buy at any electronics store, you can own the Kinect For Windows in a special box (because it’s for Windows, yo!), comes with the Kinect SDK (because you couldn’t just download it) and a shorter cable. On top of that, Microsoft states that this specific version of Kinect is inoperable without the SDK installed. So what exactly are you getting for $249.99, aside from the brazen feeling of being ripped completely off?

Uh, well, you get a cool box, I suppose. I certainly hope this is a joke because we’re going to see the Xbox 360 Kinect disappear off shelves long before people sink bongo cash into this. Better luck next time, Microsoft.
