How Awful Is The Duke Nukem Forever Demo? Pretty Awful.
Oh, Duke. We all know about your game’s tortured development cycle, eventual death at the hands of your perfectionist creators, and resurrection under the watchful eye of Gearbox (creators of the awesome Borderlands). Now, after fourteen years of development (FOURTEEN!), First Access Club members were given an early download for the Duke Nukem Forever demo, a week and a half ahead of its release at retail. So how is it? In as few words as possible: tragically bad.

Shaq Retires, “Kazaam” Returns
Shaq this, Shaq that — It seems like the only thing ESPN has been talking about yesterday and today is the big man himself. Now, if you’ve been living under a rock, Shaquille O’Neal announced his retirement from his 19 year campaign of basketball, leaving the big question for everyone to ponder: what will Shaq do now? No one has said anything, but we’re all thinking — a Kazaam sequel.

Paramount And Penny Arcade To Adapt “The New Kid” To Silver Screen
The Hollywood Reporter just broke news that Paramount is bringing Penny Arcade’s showcase concept “The New Kid” to theaters. The script is being penned by Gary Whitta, writer of The Book of Eli (I’d also followed Whitta during his tenure as EIC of PC Gamer), marking a step in the right direction by the Penny Arcade crew.

I’m sorry it’s too late, they’re all sold out. I wouldn’t have bought one anyway and not for $500, what are they smoking? Anyway Chromebooks officially go on sale June 15th but today Google put up the Samsung Series 5 on Gilt Man. Live in Tennessee? Don’t Share Your Netflix Password!
Tennessee state lawmakers just passed a new law that would make it illegal to share your Netflix, Hulu Plus, Rhapsody, etc login with any of your cheap friends. (Comic) Book Review – Spiralmind By Phi 3
So here’s the deal. I’m not really much of a comic book person but after interviewing the guys from Phi 3 and talking about their comic series “spiralmind”, I was intrigued. Matt and Benito hooked me up with signed copies of the first 2 comics in the series (COLLECTOR’S ITEMS, BITCHES!! EAT IT!) and then I ruined them by cracking them open to give them a read through so I could review them.

Gears of War 3 Beta – A Retrospective Look
April 18th – May 15th. That is how long one of the most anticipated betas to ever be beta’d lasted. Gears of War, Microsoft’s second biggest franchise and one of the highest selling exclusive games this generation, had the interwebs and Xbox Live a buzzed with activity when people found out they would be able to play this anticipated game early. Console betas are usually viewed as glorified demos and with the level of polish the Gears 3 beta had, I’m not surprised some think that. But in this case, the beta was used to collect mostly server stats, weapon stats and any random glitches that might exist. So how did I view this beta? Read on.

Phoenix Comicon – Johnny’s Take
It’s 1 a.m. on Saturday and the hotel lobby is full of people.
Correction: The hotel lobby is full of characters.
Aliens and monsters, heroes and zombies. Everyone is in costume as a character from TV, film, comic books and video games. It’s like an emergency meeting of the Justice League… if Mario, the Predator, Darth Vader and Pikachu were members.
Even the lobby music is not the usual ambient stuff – they’re playing the theme from Star Wars.
Welcome to Phoenix Comicom 2011…
