CBS Is In An Open Relationship With Netflix

CBS Is In An Open Relationship With Netflix

I like to imagine official business partnerships as peers posting their relationship status on facebook the morning after hooking up. It really puts things into perspective.

Now that CBS and Netflix are sleeping together, they will be streaming multiple tv shows that you’ve probably never seen before. Episodes of “Cheers,” “Frasier,” “The Andy Griffith Show,” and “The Twilight Zone” will be available for Netflix subscribers to once-over and move on. Here’s hoping that CBS brings over other shows a la “The Big Band Theory” to the party. Neither one wanted to comment on their open relationship but have stated that they’re moving into a nice little townhouse together with a 24-month lease.

New Command & Conquer Game? Hopefully It Won’t Suck?

New Command & Conquer Game? Hopefully It Won’t Suck?

Don’t you remember that era, right around the mid-90s, when the PC was experiencing a strategy game renaissance? That primordial era from which excellent games like Dungeon Keeper, Warcraft, Dark Reign, X-COM, and all those Sim- games came from? No? Well it happened, and one of the reigning champions was the cutting edge Command & Conquer series. EA recently unveiled a new game in the series – produced by a new studio – and quickly yanked all proof of its existence, but in an era when Starcraft 2 is the champion of the form, do we really need another C&C game?

Britney Spears Banked with Her New Video

Britney Spears Banked with Her New Video

Holy hell, so I just sat through the entire new Britney Spears music video to catch all the product placement. She made $500,000 FROM PRODUCT PLACEMENT! PlentyOfFish.com, a free dating site, forked over 6 figures to be in the video. POF said they saw an increase in traffic by 20%. You can totally see Britney is digging me since she’s all checking out my profile (if you don’t know, that’s me in the top pic) in the video and after the jump see the rest of the product placement, it’s obvious and bad.

Amazon Prime Competing with Netflix

Amazon Prime Competing with Netflix

Yesterday I posted that Redbox will be jumping into the online streaming game. Amazon has always offered online streaming but you had to rent the titles similar to iTunes. Starting today though any one that has a paid for Prime account (excluding students) and live in the US you have access to over 5,000 titles to stream from instantly for free. Amazon Prime is $79/year compare that to the new only streaming plan from Netflix at $95.88/year. This is just an added bonus to the awesome perks of Amazon Prime, free 2 day shipping and overnight shipping for $3.99. If anyone can create competition for Netflix it’ll be Amazon.

RDIO Killed The Radio Apps

A metallic tray is placed on a table in front of you. There are two pills. The blue pill will take you to an exploratory eargasm-like collection of music deep in a social universe. The red pill leads to Ping or Pandora. Assuming you chose the blue pill (with that description, why wouldn’t you?) will send you to RDIO, the only music service ever worth paying for.

Android 2.2 Froyo Update (Finally) Arrives For Epic 4G Users

It seems like Sprint’s second big 4G flagship phone got a bit of an unfair rep before it ever released. Samsung’s previously hyped efforts (namely, the Instinct and its ilk) were buggy phones that received little support post-release. With the Epic, Samsung has a winner of a phone with solid hardware and solid software that people looked over for HTC’s EVO 4g slate phone for a huge reason: Froyo. How it took them this long to bring the 2.2 update to the Epic we may never know (Froyo was being released to hardware when the Epic arrived on store shelves last September), but now that it’s here, it’s time for Epic users to celebrate! A round-up of features and updates inside:

Windows Phone + Sprint Announcement On February 24th?

Windows Phone + Sprint Announcement On February 24th?

To say I’ve been pining for this moment for a while would be an understatement, but it seems that the quick eyes over at Engadget were able to spot a tweet on Sprint’s Twitter feed indicating a new phone with ‘hubs’ for media content, which obviously refers to Windows Phone 7. In that same tweet was a hashtag for an announcement on February 24th. This surprise comes not long before a major Windows Phone update that will allow for CDMA hardware functionality (for those in the bleachers, that’s the protocol Sprint and Verizon use). Now obviously, Windows Phone can’t really top David Blaine, but we (I) don’t think it’ll need him.

Some Dude Scammed the CIA for $21 Million

A London computer expert, Dennis Montgomery, fooled the CIA for $21 million after he said he developed software to stop Al Qaeda attacks. Officials we’re so convinced that in 2003 president George Bush acting on tips from Montgomery ordered passenger planes flying from London to turn around because it was feared that hijackers would crash them into US targets.
