Sprint’s First Windows Phone Lands March 20th… And I’m Not Getting It
As the self-proclaimed World’s Largest Windows Phone Fan, it seems incredibly difficult for me to actually own a Windows Phone. Eight years loyal to Sprint and three years loyal to the Windows-based Zune phone, Microsoft launched it last October with internationally-favored GSM hardware to reach the broadest audience out of the gate. This meant no Sprint phone. Now that the HTC Arrive has finally been announced, I have to say with a frown and an air of disappointment that I’m still not going to get my hands on one. As Bob Dole once said, I just can’t win.
Android 2.2 Froyo Update (Finally) Arrives For Epic 4G Users
It seems like Sprint’s second big 4G flagship phone got a bit of an unfair rep before it ever released. Samsung’s previously hyped efforts (namely, the Instinct and its ilk) were buggy phones that received little support post-release. With the Epic, Samsung has a winner of a phone with solid hardware and solid software that people looked over for HTC’s EVO 4g slate phone for a huge reason: Froyo. How it took them this long to bring the 2.2 update to the Epic we may never know (Froyo was being released to hardware when the Epic arrived on store shelves last September), but now that it’s here, it’s time for Epic users to celebrate! A round-up of features and updates inside:
Windows Phone + Sprint Announcement On February 24th?
To say I’ve been pining for this moment for a while would be an understatement, but it seems that the quick eyes over at Engadget were able to spot a tweet on Sprint’s Twitter feed indicating a new phone with ‘hubs’ for media content, which obviously refers to Windows Phone 7. In that same tweet was a hashtag for an announcement on February 24th. This surprise comes not long before a major Windows Phone update that will allow for CDMA hardware functionality (for those in the bleachers, that’s the protocol Sprint and Verizon use). Now obviously, Windows Phone can’t really top David Blaine, but we (I) don’t think it’ll need him.
Some Dude Scammed the CIA for $21 Million
A London computer expert, Dennis Montgomery, fooled the CIA for $21 million after he said he developed software to stop Al Qaeda attacks. Officials we’re so convinced that in 2003 president George Bush acting on tips from Montgomery ordered passenger planes flying from London to turn around because it was feared that hijackers would crash them into US targets. Libya’s Internet Curfew
Libya is doing the same type of protest that Egypt was doing, demanding accountability and change from their government and it looked like Muammar Gaddafi decided to try the whole shut off the internet thing by implementing a curfew. This comes after 84 Libyan’s have been killed throughout the protest. Read the rest of this article…
How Big Does A Smartphone Screen Need To Be?
On a recent podcast, we chatted a bit about phones and their screen sizes. While Johnny’s former Blackberry was laughably small at 2.5in, his new Windows Phone (HTC HD7 w/4.3in screen) was on the way to shame the rest of us. So, how does your phone stack up? How big is too big? How small is too small?

Sony Laces Up The Mits And Gives iTunes The Stinkeye
In what I can only describe as YET ANOTHER failure of an idea from Sony’s Entertainment Group, they’ve decided to step into the ring with their own music service.
I smell a first round knockout coming up.
Arclight – My Zune 30 – Nears Death :(
After four long years and over 1500 miles in walking distance, my musical companion is finally giving up the ghost. Suffering a bout of harddrivefailureitis, it’s time to pause and reflect on the happy times we had together.
