Google Music: Are They Under-Achieving Again?
Honestly, I think there’s a market for Google Music, I just don’t know what it is. I enjoyed the service when I reviewed it this past summer for what it was: a cloud-based warehouse to stream your music from. But now that Google is really bringing its service to the world after a private beta for the price of free, it leaves me to wonder if they’re bringing their A-game to music or if they’re just wanting a slice of the pie to have their name on it.

This is the third of a five-part series in which N reflects on the definity of Microsoft’s Xbox, released a decade ago. We hope you’ll join us this week in remembering those first bright, moments of Duke controllers, Halo LAN parties, and your first moments screaming at other players online.

Skyrim Guide – Thievery and Stealing – Tips and Strategies
Oh, you’re one of those types, aren’t ya? You’ve turned your gaze onto the grand world of Skyrim and all you can see is towns full of houses to raid and a sea of pockets to pick. Well, I agree! The Elder Scrolls games have always been (to me) about being able to acquire other peoples’ goods and distributing them to myself. With the introduction of Radiant AI, you’re also minding people on their daily routes and determining how best to steal their wares. So starting out, here’s a few good strategies for starting out!
Why Do We Keep Buying The Same Call of Duty Game Over And Over?
I bought my first Call of Duty game two years ago. It was our store’s super-exciting Modern Warfare 2 midnight event that we’d planned for over a month. We had a huge tournament, caught the whole thing on camera, and hundreds of people left our store with copies of the latest and greatest in Activision’s shooter franchise. I was so swept in the whirlwind that I even plunked down the $60, minus employee discount, because I wanted in on the whole thing. I heard the multi-player was pretty “sick” and so I was up until the crack of dawn playing both through the single player campaign (which I almost beat) and the multi-player (which I was viciously ruined). Flash forward to just two days ago when Kelly hands me Modern Warfare 3 and as I go in for some social slaughter, I swear nothing’s changed at all.
Still Waiting For Your Copy of Skyrim? Come Watch Us Play (Poorly)
Okay, so maybe you’re in a few of the following situations. The UPS guy hasn’t arrived at your home yet. You’re still at work because you didn’t request the day off. Your console is broke and you’re reading this on your mobile while getting it exchanged at Best Buy. Maybe several of these things. The fact of the matter is we understand and we want to help. So while you’re waiting, come watch some saucy footage of us playing an early part of the game!
Hey Game Publishers, Stop The November Release Death Schedule (NeRDS)
We love games. Yes, we sure do. Just like you, we have our favorites: the titles we want delivered to our doorsteps (or picked up in stores) just as quickly as you do. Anything that gets in our way, be it traffic, the slow lady at the counter writing a check, or low fuel lights, is a mere obstruction to us putting a shiny disc in our console’s tray and start zipping those magical zeroes and ones across to our TVs. But you don’t have to be in the games industry to absolutely hate what game publishers do with their releases, namely, loading them up in the same sliver of the calendar as everyone else, forcing us to dig even deeper into our disposable income (or free time) to enjoy. This is what we call the NeRDS. Publishers: Stop this. Now.
Fusion: Genesis – XBLA Review
By proxy, making games in space is really boring. Even the most hardcore of PC gaming houses gave up on it fifteen years ago because the options are really quite limited despite the literal universe of possibilities. As time has marched on and hardware has allowed for greater, better looking universes, few have sought to actually render them. Again, boring. So it was a breath of fresh air when a few ex-Rare guys (Donkey Kong Country, Banjo Kazooie) tasked themselves with a rags-to-riches space adventure. Unfortunately, Starfire Studios bit off a bit more than they could chew and for all its ambitions, Fusion: Genesis just can’t reproduce the simple joy of being a ship in a massive, opportunistic galaxy. “Stranded” Gears of War Fan Flick – Short Film Review
Rob and N recently caught the Gears of War fan film “Stranded”, produced on a shoestring $1600 budget provided by a Kickstarter campaign. For a film based on a franchise that doesn’t take itself seriously very often, it’s an admirable effort. Both writers submit their reviews after the break!
