WiFi Xoom Price Announced, Entire Population Yawns
It’s official and very boring. Motorola announced this morning that it’s baby, the Xoom with only WiFi, will be traded to you for only $599 US dollars starting March 27th. Surprised? Me neither. Compare it to the iPad’s WiFi 32GB model and you’ll see both are going for the same price. Now wait a second, Motorola must have retarded the hell out of the Xoom in some other way to reach that price point, right? No sir, and that’s the good news. You’ll still be getting the 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera, and a 10.1-inch display with 1280 x 800 resolution.
Now that you know, you can continue to go about your business playing Angry Birds on your iPad 2. And cover your mouth while yawning next time.

Turn SSL on for Twitter
I wrote a post a while back that you could finally turn on SSL while browsing Facebook. Twitter is no exception when it comes to securing logins and they finally allow you to turn on SSL for Twitter. The above screen shot is in your profile settings. Twitter also opted for an EV cert which makes the bar green like banks use, Facebook went on the cheap side. You can read more about this at the official Twitter blog.
Zune Is Dead! Long Live Zune!
Today, the news is finally rattling out that Microsoft is retiring Zune. As you may know, I have a certain affinity for the device. Being a long-time iPod fan by the Zune’s debut in 2006 (with a dead iPod, mind you), I vowed that as soon as Microsoft brought an MP3 player to market, I’d be on it. And I was. So what’s in the future for Zune?
Twitter by the #Numbers
Twitter started 5 years ago as “twttr” and Jack Dorsey (founder) sent out the first tweet. Today Twitter is one of the largest social networks in the world that makes communicating fast, easy and short. News is even broke through Twitter before it hits, the TV or news websites, it’s very powerful stuff. Today Twitter wrote a cool blog post with some interesting data.
This is Why You Can’t Get Your Hands on an iPad 2
Reuters is reporting that an analyst from Wedbush Securities said “We would not be surprised to see Apple sell closer to 1 million iPad 2’s in the opening weekend.” This is amazing for Apple since it took 28 days for the first iPad to reach 1 million sales. The iPad 2 went on sale at 5PM locally at Apple stores, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Verizon Wireless and AT&T stores. Thousands and thousands of people lined up across the country to get their hands on one. Read the rest of this article…
AT&T To Tighten Broadband Data Vice
Shucks, I guess it was only a matter of time before AT&T implemented it’s wireless data cap idea towards their DSL and U-Verse broadband service. Starting May 2nd, customers using AT&T’s DSL will only have 150 GB to work with while U-Verse customers get an additional 100 GB clocking in at a pathetic 250 GB per month. A fee of $10 will be added if the cap is surpassed more than three times in three separate months. AT&T says that only 2 percent of DSL users will be affected considering that the typical internet jocky uses around 18 GB a month. Right… Read the rest of this article…
Sprint Will Pay You To Switch To Them ($125 To Be Exact)
You read that right. Sprint will pay you $125 if you port your number from another carrier essentially splitting most ETFs in half. I’ve been a Sprint user for about 8 years now and have often attempted to preach to friends and friends of friends about the joys of the company. Already having some of the lowest prices in the industry currently and the most well established 4G network (though admittedly the WiMax future may not look so bright), as long as one has good service in their city of choice I think Sprint is one of the most compelling cell phone providers on the market today. Japanese Nuclear Power Plant Meltdowns – Why we’re all NOT going to die.
The above image is pretty scary, showing a fallout effect that would have everyone from California to West Texas dying in the streets.

The Engadget Exodus, Brought To You By AOL!
It’s unfortunate, but Engadget’s Editor-In-Chief Joshua Topolsky made an eye-swelling departure today, the latest in an exodus of staffers from the best gadget site on the web. While he’s not out for good, who knows what’s next for the tech ship Engadget?
The Future Of Foursquare Check-Ins Requires Literally Swiping Your Phone? AWESOME.
Use Foursquare? What about Facebook Places? If the latter, why? Did you know Foursquare exists? Anyway, I’m getting ahead of myself. Many of us know that location apps are hindered by a legion of wrong check-ins or outright cheating: a portion of the system hinges on some honesty about where you’re checking in. For those who play by the rules, there’s a real sense of satisfaction when you unlock that one elusive badge where you’ve visited all of the best dental museums in the world (it doesn’t exist, but it should…). Well, it looks like Foursquare is figuring it out and I’ll explain how after the break.
