The FleshEatingZipper Star Trek Movie Marathon. Liveblog Starts Now!

This was a cover of Time magazine. Awesome.

This is the stupidest idea. It’s also the greatest. I am going to watch every Star Trek movie end to end in live blog format. Two and a half captains (Pine doesn’t really count). Five Enterprises. Eleven films. Twenty-four hours. I am there for you. Are you there for me? Play your film alongside and join me in an amazing journey down memory lane in what is probably science-fiction’s most famous franchise. Check the schedule below!

Sorry Swype, And Imma Let You Finish, But SwiftKey Is The Best Android Keyboard Of All Time

Even my keyboard knows what’s real.

It didn’t take long after I’d downloaded the SwiftKey trial on my Epic that I went to Google and said ‘take my dollars’. Then I used a Windows Phone and thought that, honestly, it had the best software keyboard around. From the slight knocks as you enter each character to the incredible prediction it had built it, and the Metro look, I didn’t think SwiftKey would quite top it. Well, with a slight tweak in version 3, SwiftKey has regained control of the virtual keyboard world.

Is E3 Staying In Los Angeles After All? [UPDATE: Uh, Maybe Not]

Is E3 Staying In Los Angeles After All? [UPDATE: Uh, Maybe Not]

Just after E3 ended, word spread that its owner, the Entertainment Software Association, was looking at alternate sites for the world’s largest gaming exposition. While we’ve nagged about how dreadful a place Los Angeles must be to live in based on our visits (except Johnny, natch), any site capable of hosting E3 would have to be massive, overdeveloped, and annoyingly crowded, but perhaps in a slightly different environment.

Bizarre Creations’ Project Gotham Racing 2 wasn’t just the best console game of all time, it hosted a whole other game in its cavernous virtual spaces: the protoypical Geometry Wars. It seems more like a sideshow attraction, a hidden experiment not meant for human eyes, rather than something that would become an iconic Xbox Live Arcade titles. While the series has had a number of installments over the past eight years, it was Geometry Wars 2 that serves as the high mark of the series, and the one you should own immediately.

Why Is Polygon Apologizing For Its Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor Review?

Why Is Polygon Apologizing For Its Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor Review?

A smattering of supporting reviews for Polygon’s Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor review.

I don’t want to play Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor. Never. I have absolutely zero interest in playing a game that’s geared toward becoming a Kinect game for a hardcore audience, because I’ve used Kinect, and it’s pretty rubbish. (You’ll notice that most of Microsoft’s new Kinect functionality has little to do with the sensor and everything to do with talking to its microphone.) Of course, a big new site like Polygon, the culmination of a billion other major gaming outlets, has an obligation to give it a whirl and let the masses about it. They don’t like it either, and yet they felt that the entire last half should be a report on other people who felt like they do, as if they need to justify their lowly 1 out of 10 score. Why?

Bullet Run Beta Set To Begin – And We Have LOTS Of Keys

Bullet Run. Like a gameshow, where you shoot people…Wait, no…That’s exactly what it is!

Bullet Run is another of the myriad titles we got to have a look at, at E3. It was explained to us as a game-show style shooter, in which people are competing for prizes and fame by killing each other in various ways…The more exciting, the more people will like you and the more people like you, the more benefits you get.

So, like a gameshow…except it IS a game show! And the best of all? IT’S FREE!!!!!!!!!!!

Is Windows Phone 8 Enough? No.

Is Windows Phone 8 Enough? No.

Let’s be honest: Microsoft needs to include a chunk of gold with every Windows Phone to begin to take down iOS or Android. Already in a haggard situation, Microsoft isn’t taking advantage of its hardware providers or its advantage as a game maker through Xbox to make Windows Phone a definitive platform for anything other than third place. But with today’s big announcements on changes to the platform with version 8. But are they enough changes, or drastic enough, that they can start to gain a foothold after two years on the market?

Let’s Talk About A Little Band Called Quartus

Let’s Talk About A Little Band Called Quartus

The guys from Quartus…ok so it’s not REALLY a “little” band.

I’ve recently become aware of a band called Quartus, from Omaha, Nebraska. Now, I’m usually not the type to be talking about music and I’m certainly not one to write articles about it but I have to be honest and say…They made me do it!

Actually, their sound made me do it. I’m generally into music that’s faster, harder, and louder, – Like Killswitch Engage, Slipknot, and Disturbed – but these guys have a great quality to their music. They’re clean, they have a full, robust sound and since I have to admit that I am actually a huge fan of Dave Matthews, that likely draws me to these guys because they have the same kind of feel.
