‘The Internship’ Review:  Painful to Watch

Look, everybody! These guys don’t know anything about computers! Hilarious!

Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson reunite in a movie about two talented salesmen who, finding themselves out of a job, elect to reinvent themselves and apply for careers at Google. Co-written and produced by Vaughn, The Internship contains plenty of dated gags about Skype and Instagram, but not much in the way of bona fide humor. This movie is the cinematic equivalent of your Luddite uncle adding you on Facebook and sending you a stream of LOLCats pictures.

The Purge introduces us to an America reborn and free from the grip of unemployment and poverty. The nation prospers and the less fortunate are nonexistent. How did this happen? Well, the federal government has elected to set aside one night out of the year wherein all crime is legal. It’s dubbed “The Purge.” The wealthy and elite apparently take that as an opportunity to clean out the country’s homeless shelters and ghettos, and thus the low unemployment statistics.

Game consoles are far complex now than they were when we were born – this is true even of those born after the turn of the century. They don’t simply play games, they play movies, music and more and they do it online through an ever-strengthening internet. Unfortunately for the platform holders, their ability to communicate what their game system does is becoming a more convoluted affair with plenty of hard questions and no easy answers. Pen and Paper ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ For The Digital Age

Since I was a young buck, I’ve been playing of pen and paper RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Paranoia, Cyberpunk (the real one, not the GURPS version), Shadowrun and others. I started playing D&D back in the late 1970s when the core books were thin paperbacks about the size of a third-grade work book with bad art and lots of problems. Back then, we had no idea how big the idea of role playing games would become or how that idea would spawn an entire genre of table-top and electronic games.

Now, as we prepare to roll out to E3 2013, I find myself casting off the idea of strictly digital RPGs and going back to the idea of tabletop RPG’s, but with a bit of a twist…
