E3 2013: These Are The Reasons Why You’re Not Buying An Nvidia SHIELD Handheld
Nvidia first stab at a gaming handheld is a shining achievement for them, but that’s not enough.
Nvidia dedicated an island at their big E3 booth this year to their new SHIELD handheld. It takes their powerful new Tegra 4 SoC processor and marries it to Android. This seems really practical in a lot of ways, it’s all very silly in a lot more. After some hands on, I can tell you Nvidia’s going to have a hard time selling this thing.

E3 2013 – Bungie’s Destiny Looks Like Halo: The RPG
Fulfill your destiny… with Destiny.
E3 2013 is well under way and Bungie’s new online RPG is already getting a lot of buzz. Sony touted the game with a live demo during their press conference and the crowd cheered with appreciation.
Today, I sat down in Activision’s tricked out theater to get a closer look at the demo (which was exactly the same as the Sony presser, right down to the canned banter between the two players). I came away with some excitement, sure. But I also realized that everything about the way the game looked and played just reminded me of Halo. Read the rest of this article…
PS4 New UI Shown Off, Facebook Called, They Want their Design Back [VIDEO]
I didn’t realize the interface would be a website.
Sony didn’t show off any of the PS4 UI at either of their press conferences and we all dreaded it being the XrossMediaBar (cross-media bar), at least I did. Seriously, that thing did not age well. Seeing Xbox refresh their UI constantly made me loathe the XMB more. But a cheesy scripted video was released that does show off the new UI and at least it’s not XMB, right? E3 2013: ‘Wolfenstein: The New Order’ Paints A Pretty Picture, Isn’t Fun To Play Yet
Mechanical Monsters, Nazis and not a lot of fun yet.
We got some hands-on/eyes-on time with Bethesda’s new Nazi blaster Wolfenstein: The New Order. The development team, comprised of ex-Starbreeze vets, is creating a new Wolfenstein based in 1960 in which the Nazis won WWII with the help of some mysterious tech. Unfortunately, it seems that despite the polish displayed in their theater presentation, the gameplay simply isn’t ready yet.

New ‘The Hobbit’ Trailer: The Desolation Of Smaug Isn’t So Desolate (VIDEO)
The new Hobbit trailer has finally hit the web, providing fans of Middle Earth with their first glimpse of the newest Peter Jackson movie due out on December 13, 2013, The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug.
Orlando Bloom is back! Excited yet? Yes? No, well luckily there is also a nice glimpse of Smaug the dragon at the end, alas, there is no Benedict Cumberbatch voice to be heard. But we can wait until the movie releases to hear Kahn in full Smaug form.

E3 2013: 5 Reasons Why ‘The Elder Scrolls Online’ Isn’t The ‘Skyrim’ You’re Searching For
Plenty of exciting biomes to get your Elder Scrolls on with.
This morning I got my hands on Bethesda’s new epic new MMO, The Elder Scrolls Online. It was a brief session, only about half an hour, but it was enough to get a good first impression of what the new online team’s been putting together for so many years. If you’re looking for a traditional Elder Scrolls game though, you’re going to be plenty surprised.

E3 Blocks OUYA’s Booth and Calls the Cops
Can’t stop the OUYA party.
Whoa, the ESA, who runs the E3 conference, apparently blocked OUYA’s parking lot booth with a 18-wheeler trailer and called the cops on them. This is a pretty extreme thing to do. Outside of the West and South hall lobbies you can see parking lots. These are usually full of cars with attendants waving down passers by demanding upwards of $45 cash for parking but there are also a few booths that are open to the public, like OUYA. Microsoft Chief Don Mattrick Doesn’t Care About Our Soldiers
This console reserved for people with interwebs! LoL, soldier losers!
We all know that the Xbox One’s requirement to always be connected to the internet has caused quite a stir, as has Redmond, WA. based Microsoft’s inability to clearly define what rights owners of the upcoming “next gen” console will have with the software they’ve paid for.
This has, of course, gotten many people up in arms and one of the people who commented was a soldier stationed aboard a nuclear submarine who mentioned that they don’t have internet access.
And what did Don Mattrick have to say about this?

E3 Day One: Console Wars, PS4 Commanding Higher Pre-Orders than Xbox One
The wallets have spoken.
According to Amazon.com, Sony’s new PS4 is outselling the Xbox One in terms of pre-orders. The Xbox One is not far behind in second place but that just goes to show you that people are still pissed off at Microsoft for their crazy always on and DRM requirements. Johnny wrote earlier about Microsoft’s shortcomings and we talked about it in depth in yesterday’s podcast.
E3 2013: ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Eyes-On
That dog is a killer.
Call of Duty: Ghosts was one of the games shown at Microsoft’s Xbox One unveiling where they talked about the new tech. The new tech including fish having their own AI and a tactical dog were quickly mocked online. Jumping into the theater to see gameplay of Call of Duty: Ghosts set a different perspective to me.
