Review – Fate of the World: Tipping Point – A Game about Global Warming

Fate of the World is the second game by the indie developers Red Redemption, and my first reaction was that this was going to be a green-peace-yuppie-tree-hugging-save-the-whales kind of game. The game features real-world climate data gathered by a Dr. Myles Allen of the University of Oxford, which is importnant considering the emphasis on Global Warming and the basic concept of the game is to save the Earth, from the year 2020 to 2200 and keep 50 “signature species” from going extinct, and 40 technologies to develop, as well as tipping points, like the Amazon Rain Forest collapses. Read on to see if my initial reaction is justified, or if there’s some real meat to this game. Read the rest of this article…

Sprint Starting to Kill Off Unlimited Data Plans

Let me clarify before we get into details. This is not for smart phone usage unless you use it as a hotspot. This is limiting tablets, netbooks, notebooks, USB cards, connection cards or mobile hotspot devices. I want to say that I called this somewhere and it’s not what you think but it’s the start. Yarny Review: Not a Tangled Mess

Yarny Review: Not a Tangled Mess

Yarny is the best of many worlds for writers. I stumbled upon this program when looking at the list of companies that sponsor the annual writing event of National Novel Writing Month (lovingly called NaNoWriMo). I was looking for something that mixed the functionality of Growly Notes, Google Documents, and a regular word processor, but I wanted something that wasn’t distracting. Yes, I’m picky when it comes to my writing programs, which is why I rarely stick with one.

Galaxy Nexus Gets November 10th Release Date On Verizon?

Looks like some Verizon employee has decided his job isn’t worth it, because into our (well, collectively the internet’s) hands falls a release schedule of the network’s phones. Included is both our favored Droid RAZR and the new ultra-slick Galaxy Nexus, but something isn’t quite right here.

GameSpot’s The Controller Battlefield 3 Review

I can’t remember where I first saw the preview for this new show a couple of days ago but I remember thinking that it looks like one giant ad for Battlefield 3. Well tonight I was browsing reddit like I normally do and see an ad for the first episode so I decided to check it out and see if it’s worth it. It’s kind of a cool concept but executed poorly.

Michael Jackson’s Doctor’s Attorneys Challenge Drug Expert’s Testimony – Claim Possible Suicide

Michael Jackson’s Doctor, Conrad Murray, and his attorneys are challenging testimony given by anesthesiology expert Dr. Steven Shafer, the day after he gave damaging testimonial evidence against Murray at his trial.

Dr. Murray was charged with manslaughter in the 2009 death of Michael Jackson, which was found to be due to an overdose of propofol (a hypnotic agent) and other sedatives.

Paranormal Activity 3 – Movie Review – Now With One NEW Scare! (Clearly Marked Spoilers!)

Paranormal Activity 3 – Movie Review – Now With One NEW Scare! (Clearly Marked Spoilers!)

I’m sorry, but I wasn’t aware there were ground rules when it came to horror franchises. The one I’m most offended by after seeing Paranormal Activity 3 says that ‘once you’re innovative and create some great scares, you must spend the following installments cutting as much from that same cloth as possible’. The original Activity was a decent flick for a variety of reasons. For one, it was novel. For two, there was a small inventory of characters, so there was no extraneous action or character development to drag the pace down. Finally, it spent quite a bit of time building some psychological tension. 3 spends so much time building up and building up and building up that when it finally releases, it’s a quick release and it’s over.

Doom 4 Cancelled?

Posted by on October 21, 2011 at 3:26 am in Gaming

Doom 4 Cancelled?

So imagine you’re id Software. You’ve just spent six years building Rage, your most ambitious game ever (which I thoroughly enjoyed). You’ve managed to fill out two more teams, one of which has been working on a new Doom game for the past few years. Your sister studios under the Zenimax/Bethesda label – which have produced exactly one decent game series: The Elder Scrolls – have been releasing stuff like Brink that reaffirm the notion that even if your game isn’t even that great, you’re still better than them. Well, Rage finally releases to mixed-to-decent reviews (much like Doom 3 did) and a botched release on your lead platform, the PC. Then Zenimax comes and tells you that you’re the bad guy here and that your new Doom game is cancelled. How would you feel?

We, at FleshEatingZipper, realize Keith’s article about being delayed at the Apple store due to observation of Steve Jobs’ funeral was insensitive, crass and unfunny.
