10 Days Of Anime! – Trigun

The following review was written by guest contributor Sam.

Created by Yasuhiro Nightow, Trigun follows the story of the infamous man known as “Vash the Stampede” (Johnny Yong Bosch) on the distant planet Gunsmoke. Entire cities are evacuated at the mere mention of Vash’s name, and he has a enormous bounty put on his head. Vash is demonized as the humanoid typhoon because he is a legendary killer outlaw, however as the series goes on, you find that Vash is on a mission for love and peace. In fact, Vash has strong morals to never kill and help those in need, so why is he so bad?

A Roundabout Review of Dragon Age 2

A Roundabout Review of Dragon Age 2

So, you might have heard some bad things about Dragon Age 2, or maybe you heard some good things. I suppose your opinion on the game depends pretty heavily on whether or not you ever worry about things like getting ad revenue from EA ever again, but whatever. Having finished Bioware’s latest “epic,” I sat back and wondered what the pitch for DA2 must have sounded like in the initial design meetings at Bioware. I imagine it went something like this, assuming you ignore continuity and timeline and all that. I’m trying to make a point: Read the rest of this article…

Angry Birds One of the Most Profitable Games in History

Angry Birds One of the Most Profitable Games in History

Angry Birds is reportedly one of the most profitable games of all time.

Made for just $140,000, the smash hit has already generated an estimated $70 million, more than 500 times what it cost to make.

EEDAR analyst Jesse Dinvich told IndustryGamers: “The 140k was the development costs and given the marketing and auxiliary products (plush toys), the actual cost to maintain and operate the Angry Birds brand is certainly higher, but still, it is fair to say that Angry Birds is by far one of the most profitable games in history, relative to costs.” Read the rest of this article…

Xbox 360 is the Best-Selling Console in February 2011

Xbox 360 is the Best-Selling Console in February 2011

Microsoft sold 535,000 Xbox 360 units in the US in February making it the best-selling console of the month, NPD has revealed.

That’s the second straight month Microsoft has taken the console crown in the US, and February saw a 27 percent jump in sales compared to February 2010.

The result was predicted by both Wedbush’s Michael Pachter and fellow analyst outfit EEDAR on Monday ahead of the NPD announcement.

The market research group also revealed that the Wii came in at 454,000 unit sales in February, putting it 14 percent up compared to the same time last year.

That figure also puts the Ninty system beyond the 35 million unit mark in the US, making it the fastest selling console in history.

All three consoles saw some increase in hardware sales compared to last February, however Sony refused to release sales figures.

Paramount And Twitter Announce ‘Super 8’ Trailer Exclusivity, Ignore Meatbags Who Saw It In Theaters

Well, this is funny: I could’ve sworn we saw the trailer for the new Steven Spielberg/”I’m Not Working On The New Star Trek Film Yet” J.J. Abrams flick Super 8 during the midnight release for that one film last night. Nope, apparently not according to Paramount who issued a press release stating they had released the trailer exclusively on Twitter. Well, I guess I’ll just forget the one we saw last night.

Electric Cars: Tesla Decides Bigger Batteries Are Awesome, Chevy Figures The Opposite

I’ve mentioned it before, but I have to say that if one of the electric car manufacturers wanted to drop one of their vehicles on my insurance policy, I can’t say I’d cry (that I am sans vehiculus at the moment is completely relevant). For many folks, there’s still a lot of trepidation around a purchase because of the range and price of these cars and while it doesn’t look like that’s changing any time soon, some recent announcements seem to highlight where some strategies are working and where they’re not.

10 Days Of Anime! – Xenosaga

The following review was written by guest contributor Sam.

Xenosaga: The Animation is a gorgeous anime loosely based on the popular RPG. Humans have left Earth to take to the stars and lifeforms — known as Gnosis — threaten our off-world existence. Shion from Vector Industries takes matters into her own hands when she creates a woman cyborg to combat the Gnosis code named KOS-MOS.

Fez Am Sad

Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the victims of today’s earthquakes in Japan.

For those who may have missed the news, today, Japan has been struck with a major earthquake and numerous aftershocks.

The main earthquake hit a magnitude of 8.9, which is reported by many news agencies to be the strongest earthquake in Japan’s history.

Since then, aftershocks have hit magnitudes as high as 7.1.

The big quake, which happened off the coast of Honshu, unleashed a tsunami which traveled inland as far 3 miles.

At this time it is thought that the number of casualties may be over 1000, with many more feared dead.

We at FleshEatingZipper would like to extend our most sincere condolences to everyone who has been and will be touched by this tragedy and would ask that everyone who can take the time to donate to the red cross in an effort to help with relief.

Thank you all and the best of luck to Japan.
