‘Minecraft’ Meets ‘Star Citizen’ In Super Indie ‘Xeno Galaxies’

Pew pew!

Okay, obviously this one-man show isn’t gonna beat the pants off the complexities of Star Citizen, but this game does a little dream fulfillment all its own. As a space dude in Xeno Galaxies, you’ll get to build and fly your ship across the galaxy to do all kinds of stuff. He needs your help, though. With 58 days remaining, Xeno Galaxies‘ Indiegogo drive is still a few dollars shy of its $90,000 goal.

Time Warner Cable’s Lack Of Ambition Apparent In Q1 Earnings

Time Warner Cable’s Lack Of Ambition Apparent In Q1 Earnings

My old haunt reports flat performance.

There’s still some debate about whether people are “cutting the cord”, but Time Warner Cable felt it super hard and real this quarter when they announced a welcome batch of 143,000 new high-speed internet customers (which was below expectations) and the subtraction of 118,000 video customers (which was greater than expectations). Their response? “We’re stepping up our retention game.”

Nintendo Apologizes For Wii U, But Can It Ever Be Saved?

I’m still here, waiting for you.

Satoru Iwata’s seen a lot of success as Nintendo’s CEO. He took the top spot in 2002 when legendary leader Hiroshi Yamauchi retired and oversaw the continuation of their handheld dominance with the Nintendo DS and their return to home console glory with the Wii. Unfortunately, his legacy may hinge on whether he can fix their massive Wii U misfire.

Zach Braff Jumps on the Kickstarter Bandwagon to Fund ‘Wish I Was Here’

Zach Braff Jumps on the Kickstarter Bandwagon to Fund ‘Wish I Was Here’

Zach & Adam Braff, the current team.

Attributed directly to Rob Thomas’ successful Veronica Mars Kickstarter, Zach Braff, known most famously as the dude in Scrubs, launched a Kickstarter for his new project, Wish I Was Here. Already at $1.2 million with 29 days to go, I don’t think he is going to have any issues coming up with the $2 million he is asking for. Read the rest of this article…

Nintendo Won’t Hold E3 Press Conference, Focusing On Small, Closed Events Instead

No big Fils-Amie moment?

If you watched Nintendo’s big E3 presser last year, the big one where they introduced the Wii U properly with all its gyrometers and blitz-blatzers and other nonsense, you probably fell asleep. If you were in the audience like we were, you probably did. Well, after a long line of these presentations, Nintendo’s eschewing their big and bombastic display in favor of more intimate affairs. Like, with game demos, not whatever you were thinking of.

Sofia Coppola’s ‘The Bling Ring’ Presents A Weird Side Of Popular, Totally Has A Trailer!

Sofia Coppola’s ‘The Bling Ring’ Presents A Weird Side Of Popular, Totally Has A Trailer!

They just wanted to be part of that world, y’know?

One of my guiltiest pleasures has been reading The Superficial for nearly six years now. Reading Fish’s patronizing commentary about the day-to-day paparazzi-shot lives of celebrities is hilarious beyond measure. As the cameras, court documents, and quotes come together, they often frame the existence of a Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian as a shallow exercise in fame. But what happens when you want into that lifestyle of permanent celebrity? What would you do? You’d start the Bling Ring and bring in Emma Watson as your star, of course.

Star Trek: The Video Game (Xbox 360) Review: A Phaser Blast To Your Brain

Star Trek: The Video Game (Xbox 360) Review: A Phaser Blast To Your Brain

Even Spock doesn’t want to be here.

I hate Star Trek: The Video Game. I hate it so much. I just finished it and I’m still shaking at how revolting that ten hour experience was. I have no idea why this happened! No idea! Paramount was duplicitous in their role of providing high-quality Star Trek assets – namely, full access to the film’s art and an original story that takes place between the two films – but they also turned a blind eye while developer Digital Extremes sewed this purely offensive experience together. Paramount said they didn’t want this game to be merely ‘movie tie-in merchandise’ and they have failed. They have so fucking failed. I don’t care how much you want Kirk’s new adventures, stay the hell away from this game. I am not kidding.

Next Generation Xbox To Be Unveiled On May 21st

The Next Xbox…Nextbox?

It looks like Microsoft’s finally opening the floodgates on the next Xbox (they won’t call it the Xbox 720) or at least, it certainly seems so based on an email I just got from Microsoft which contained nothing but the subject line “In 27 days…” and a biggie-sized graphic which says they’re either unveiling the new Xbox or they’re announcing who will be taking over Microsoft when the people running it die.

Read on to see what I saw.

2013: A Phone Odyssey

2013: A Phone Odyssey

Phones suck. Really they do!

Ahhh, 2013: The Year My Phone Failed. Things have been crap so far this year, but hopefully I’m going to have more luck this time around.

I’ve owned a lot of phones over the years. The first was one of those old-fashioned bag phones that looked like a really lame purse with an antenna. From there I had one of the big brick phones, a bunch of flip phones from companies like Samsung, LG and Motorola; even that Nokia that was so popular back in the day… you know, the one they made clear cases and flashing batteries and all that crap for? Yeah, I had one.
