Active Games are Good for Kids

This is pretty interesting and cool. Studies were done at Brigham Young University and the University of Massachusetts where they test 39 boys and girls playing active video games or “exergames” for 10 minutes and found that the 10 minutes was the same amount of exercise as a 3 mile walk on a treadmill. I’m NOT Going to Facebook to Watch Movies!

Let’s please stop this now before it gets out of hands. Will you really go to Facebook to watch movies? Warner Brothers thinks you will. The first title, The Dark Knight, is available for 30 Facebook credit or $3 for a 48 hour rental period. You can read more about this tomfoolery at the Wall Street Journal.

GK Films, which produced The Town, The Tourist and Rango have acquired the film rights for Tomb Raider from Square Enix in December 2010. VZW iPhone Slower Than AT&T iPhone

Wait what? Where’s America’s most reliable network now? Metrico did a study that cost $5k so we are getting our info from Wired. The VZW version performed slower than other VZW phones like the HTC Incredible even though the voice quality is better than the AT&T version but who uses their phone to call anyone? That’s what I tell myself whenever I drop a call, I’m going to go cry in a corner now.

Getting Closer to Launching Skynet

Boston Dynamics is building some robots to hunt people for the government. The first is the Cheetah that you see above. The Cheetah robot will have a flexible spine, an articulated head and neck, and maybe even a tail. It will be able to accelerate rapidly and make tight turns so it can “chase or evade,” Boston Dynamics said in a statement.

Favimon – I Choose You!

This is pretty cool if you’re into the whole web scene. It’s a nifty little spin off Pokemon but instead of battling Pokemon you battle Favicons! So far I have taken down the top 10 Alexa ranked sites then didn’t know what else to do with it. Go check out Favimon though and beware of the mighty Google Favicon, it’s a monster!

Google’s Self Driving Car

Posted by: on March 7, 2011 at 12:31 pm

I’ve been hearing all about this magical car that Google has been testing but never got to see in it. Well the wait is over! In the video above you get to see it has a crazy keyboard with characters out of this world (I knew aliens helped them) and it driving up to 45 MPH while it zig-zags through an obstacle course. The tech inside isn’t really touched on, I’m guessing it’s still super duper top secret. All I know is that I really want to play with one of these things now. In 2007 BMW let Top Gear test their self driving car, I think someone at Google leaked it to BMW and that’s how they go the tech because I mean did you see GM’s self driving car? The thing had crazy gadgets and cameras mounted all over it. The BMW video is after the jump.

Ebooks Only Last 26 Reads Then They Self Destruct

Harper Collins, a huge book publisher, is telling libraries that they need to buy a new version of any ebook that is checked out 26 times. The reason behind this is because they say that printed books only last that long and so ebooks should follow the same rules. Say what? Read the rest of this article…

Even Microsoft Hates Internet Explorer 6

This is a little surprising to me. Microsoft has created the website IE6 Countdown which shows the stats of IE6 usage and pretty much is telling anyone that is still using IE6 to go die in a fire. We at FleshEatingZipper fully support not only upgrading from IE6 but to leave the Microsoft family for a better browser like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. It’s the future people c’mon now!
