Video Gaming “Addiction” A Mental Disorder?
Hi…I’m Rob and I’m a video game addict
The American Psychiatric Institute (APA) had been considering, based on a vote by the American Medical Association (AMA), including video gaming addiction in their updated version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder (DSM – V, being released this year). They have also considered including “IAD” or “Internet Addiction Disorder” in their new release of the manual.
So…what’s up with that?

Killing The Physical Juggernaut, Part 1: The Life And Death Of Home Movies
Endless stacks of discs, forever.
I have no love for physical media and society demands I feel just a little trapped. With the arrival of the holiday season and its plentiful specials, the NeRDS, and the amount of sheer rubbish we receive at FEZ HQ, I’ve acquired a lot of shiny discs in the past few weeks. Hidden within many of these amaray cases, like some kind of matryoshka doll, are nests of discs, numbered in sequence. We live in a time that streaming services and technologies are divorcing us from the necessity of acquiring a galaxy of different physical media to enjoy our content. My parents, however, were married just as a lot of this was coming home in the form of chunky black tapes and silver discs for the very first time. In thirty years, we have created the monster and are now, not quickly enough, killing it.

ROCK-IT 3.0 REVIEW: Giant Plastic Tubs.. Seriously..
I wonder how these would sound if you had 10 going in a single room…
It comes as no surprise that a device that transmits audio, turning most anything to a speaker, would draw curiosity to us, especially for me who has to work with a different audio set-up than one what’s usually found in one’s car. Seeing as mine’s a bit of an old-clunker with no radio, improvisation is my friend, and to Rock-It 3.0’s credit, it works well enough.. Read the rest of this article…
Star Trek Into Darkness Teaser Reveals Sinister Villain, Far Too Much CG
“No, Captain Kirk, I expect you to die!”
Paramount has just revealed the first trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness, the sequel to 2009’s Star Trek, and it’s heavy on the cinematics. Both directed by the lensflare-happy J.J. Abrams, Into Darkness expands on the last film’s reboot/spinoff of the titanic science fiction franchise with a new villain (played by the apparently devilish Benedict Cumberbatch) and a newly-minted Captain Kirk. Admittedly, I’m not as hot on this flick’s reveal as I was the 2009 film, but why? Let me explain.

Gabe Newell Hints At Source 2.0… In a Sense
It’s pretty damn obvious, really…
Well, for the most part anyway. Mr. Newell has not obliged us with any information directly, and to say that watching a low-res camera recording of Gabe wearing a soldier hat pulled out of a mock MannCo locked crate could only incriminate him for so much, or validate his words in so many … words. Let me clarify. Read the rest of this article…
What The Hell Has Happened To Music?!
STOP STOP STOP STOP STOP!!!!
A couple of days ago, I went off on a bit of a rip about all the Christmas music which is being on the radio played these days. Apparently someone important read that article because for the past couple of days I haven’t heard much Christmas music at all…Unfortunately, I’m now reminded of the utter shit they’re pouring out over the air waves and now I’m not sure I want the Christmas music to go away at all.

Wii U’s Best Game – Panorama App – Will Be Available In Spring
All of this fun can be yours.
The Wii U launch has been a bit of hit and mostly miss with native games that are barely taking advantage of the hardware, few effectively taking advantage of its tablet (a complaint that could be leveled at the DS when it launched) and ports of high-profile games from other platforms not performing as well and definitely rating low. So what does the Wii U have up its sleeve beyond more Mario-themed games? Why, it’s the best Panorama App you’ll ever ever use, probably, and it’s out this Spring.

New Music & Video Apps Launch on Xbox Live Today
The dashboard…
One thing I love about my Xbox is that it’s my media hub. Up until recently I didn’t have cable and would use Hulu and Netflix for my source of TV & Movies. When Xbox didn’t have those apps I used an awesome service called PlayOn to stream to my Xbox. Now that Xbox has those apps I don’t use PlayOn anymore. Today Major Nelson announced more apps rolling out on Xbox Live so let’s take a look at them. Read the rest of this article…
Netflix Secures New Partnership with Disney, Beating Out Cable Channels
I had to do it.
You know how after several months of a movie opening in theaters, you can catch it on premium TV channel’s like HBO or Showtime? Well Netflix just secured a deal with Disney to be the first ones to show these movies ahead of those other channels starting in 2016. Read the rest of this article…
‘Anomaly: Warzone Earth’ (PSN) Review: A Solid Anti-Tower Defense
Spawn that vehicle! No, repair it! No, arggggh!!
Despite being relatively new to gaming and having a few champions in the form of League of Legends or Fieldrunners, tower defense games are getting a little old. People have tried to change them up, add different units, change the perspective, mod them into games, and put them on every platform possible, but the tower defense design is only so expandable. So what do you do? You flip it on its head, just like Anomoly: Warzone Earth has. It debuted on the PC a little over a year ago, but only recently landed on the shores of PSN, so how does the port handle? Really well, actually.
