Movie Dump-Bin Review: Mafia (2011)

Oh Robert Patrick, you can do better than this!

We at FleshEatingZipper receive a number of straight-to-DVD releases that wind up going straight to the Movie Dump-Bin, a special purgatory that serves as a home to D-list celebrities and the worst possible moviemaking you can possibly imagine. Sometimes these films come close to earning their wings, but most are of the ilk that should never be reasoned with…

Game Developer Chris Hecker Uses PlayStation 4 Unveil To Criticize Gaming Industry

It’s like the old stuff, but new.

Chris Hecker is no stranger to controversy. During his stint at Maxis, he called the Wii “two GameCubes duct-taped together” and “a piece of shit”. This year, he decided to use his five minutes to rant at the Game Developers Conference about the present and future of gaming, using various clips from Sony’s PlayStation 4 unveiling to prove his point. Hecker is no great editor, but his point becomes clear pretty quick.

I Welcome Our New Drone Overlords: Automotons To Fly Crap Like Newspapers To You Soon

bzzzzZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz

Drones have been getting a real negative rap in the media over the past few years. Whether it’s massive Predator drones nuking people abroad or how local municipalities seek to employ the buggers to surveil you at all times, it’s becoming hard to believe there was a time, if only for a moment, that the dream of autonomous flyers in our skies seemed like a cool, futuristic idea. If The Verge doesn’t publish something critical about drones on a daily basis, then Topolsky and his crew have failed. But let’s lighten up.

‘Conan’ To Stay On TBS Until At Least November 2015

‘Conan’ To Stay On TBS Until At Least November 2015

Confusingly amused?

Conan O’Brien’s ejection from The Tonight Show and re-found justification on TBS is one of the most bittersweet stories of the past few years. NBC wasn’t pleased with his inability to entertain The Tonight Show‘s geriatric audience and they booted him for it. It’s for that very same reason, his ability to generate tons of internet views amongst a younger audience, that TBS is keeping him around for a bit longer.

CBS Unveils Stephen King’s ‘Under The Dome’ Mini-Series, Reminds Me To Read Book Again

Yeah, you ain’t getting out, buddy. I don’t care if you have an owie-boo-boo.

I don’t read enough books to be one of those elite buggers that can claim ‘the book was better’ when said story transitions across media to TV or the silver screen. With the arrival of Stephen King’s Under The Dome, a mini-series that airs on CBS in June, I’ll finally get my chance to don that turtleneck and those thick-rimmed glasses unironically.

‘SimCity’ Still Broken: Mega-City Built With No Power, Water, Or Sewage, Sims Okay With That

‘SimCity’ Still Broken: Mega-City Built With No Power, Water, Or Sewage, Sims Okay With That

It looks kinda like Kowloon City, doesn’t it?

It seems we can’t go a week without some deep-cutting example of SimCity‘s broken design makes its way across the internet. The game I wanted to be the best of the year comes to another turn as reddit user Photism creates a megalopolis of 1.8 million Sims – yes, that many – that don’t have access to any amenities, jobs, or utilities. Great.

StarCraft 2: Heart Of The Swarm (PC) Campaign Review: Falling Out Of Love With Blades

StarCraft 2: Heart Of The Swarm (PC) Campaign Review: Falling Out Of Love With Blades

“Yo girl, did you want to like, I don’t know, hang out sometime?”

As of this moment, it’s been three weeks since I installed Heart of the Swarm, the Zerg-themed first expansion to 2010’s StarCraft 2. I had intended to beat it within a week and report my findings, but that just didn’t materialize. Just an hour ago, I opened the game to start my final jaunt toward completing the campaign. I left off with a mission called “Domination” in which the newly re-mutated Kerrigan seeks to regather the Zerg swarm on the fiery world of Char. To do this, she must topple a brood mother holdout named Zagara that’s keeping a chunk of the swarm to herself. But as the mission started, and I was once again greeted with the task of building a base to topple Zagara and complete a variety of secondary missions, I decided I just couldn’t handle it anymore. Not one more time. So I quit.

BioShock Infinite (PC/Xbox 360) Staff Review: A Sky Full Of Dreams

BioShock Infinite (PC/Xbox 360) Staff Review: A Sky Full Of Dreams

It looks like the pile of gold IGN gave up to get this exclusive paid off.

The release of BioShock Infinite was a big event around the FEZ Palace. After a long, five year wait since the debut of the original game (which isn’t to badmouth BioShock 2), it’s a rush to finally see Ken Levine’s new idealistic shooter land in our laps. As such, we’ve decided to do something new and give a staff review of the game. Cody and I sat down for a discussion on BioShock Infinite and wound up with a mutual score. The following review is the result in a chat-style format. We’ve also marked out spoilers, like this one, which is actually safe: they should only be read if you’ve beat the game.
