The $500 Million Powerball: Living The Collective Fantasy

It’s all yours if you want it enough.

Some people call it an idiot tax, others call it escapism, but when the lottery hits record pots, it becomes a collective fantasy. Even if you’re not regularly enlisting your dollars to clean up your parks and improve your state, you’ll whip out a twenty or a debit card to purchase those little strings of numbers that, if your prayers come true, will grant you more power than you could have ever possibly imagined. With Powerball raising the price on tickets this year, these euphoric moments happen far more often, highlighted by the massive Mega Millions draw back in March. These moments just can’t come often enough.

Assassin’s Creed III Review: The Best Open World Can Get

Assassin’s Creed III Review: The Best Open World Can Get

Does dry cleaning remove blood?

The things I love most about the Assassin’s Creed series, is that you immerse yourself in the characters and there is always a ton of things to accomplish. Assassin’s Creed III is no exception to this when it comes to things to do, but, this also hurts the game a little. I don’t feel as connected to Connor and with everything available to do, it feels a little burdening. That said, it’s a fantastic game and I’m not the least bit upset that I’ve bought it and would highly recommend it to everyone. Read the rest of this article…

Nintendo’s Wii Mini: The Last Hurrah Of An Empire

Nintendo’s Wii Mini: The Last Hurrah Of An Empire

It definitely looks prettier than the original model.

When a console gets old and prepares for the silver years of its life, it gets repackaged. That old design isn’t gonna work anymore. The price has to come down. You didn’t really need all those features, so out they go. The most successful console of the generation got a stealthy redesign and a Canada-only release date of December 7 for $100. At this point, are there any bets on it outselling its successor?

PlanetSide 2 – The Definitive Review – With Gameplay Video

What did we think about SOE’s new MMOFPS? We’ll tell ya!

Planetside 2 is one of the most hotly anticipated FPS titles of the year. At E3 2012, we gave it awards for “Best Shooter” and “Best MMO”, beating out titles like Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2, Defiance, Rift, and others. We played it at E3, I played it all throughout beta, and now I’m playing it and reviewing it post-launch to let all of you know what I think of it.

So how does this one stack up?

‘Gemini Wars’ Review: Evokes Sins Of A Solar Empire, Performs Poorly

‘Gemini Wars’ Review: Evokes Sins Of A Solar Empire, Performs Poorly

This screenshot is more interesting than anything actually in the game.

The space strategy genre was tailor-made for me. Build massive fleets, conquer the galaxy, refresh. It seems so easy in principle, but why can no one make a good one? Why are developers so content to throw imagination out the window and set poorly-constructed real-time strategy games against starfields and nebulae while little, multi-colored icons plug each other with little lines of laser fire? Have we learned nothing in twenty years? Gemini Wars is yet another title by a small-time developer playing with my emotions, failing to provide the goods.

An iPhone User Switches to Android: Day One Troubles

I’m guessing he throws up the Apple because he can’t handle it.

Since 2008, I’ve been using an iPhone and have always liked it. After the iPhone 5 released I said I would be leaving the iPhone. Why? Because I want a bigger screen. I know this may be whiny, but don’t tell me a 4″ screen is perfect for me. Android had been averaging 4.5″ a greater and I wanted that. So I left AT&T and got the new HTC Droid DNA on Verizon. Red Dawn, The Review – Reboot Or Regurgitation?

Red Dawn, The Review – Reboot Or Regurgitation?

I think they should have called themselves “The Honey Badgers”. If you get that joke, you’re a nerd.

I’m not going to lie. I enjoyed the hell out of the original Red Dawn, back in 1984. The cast was good, the story was one that hit home with everyone at that time (The Soviet Union invading? Yeah, it was possible back then.) and the flow of the movie was good…not too much action, not too much drama, and pretty much no fluff.

That’s how I like my movies…fluff free. So how did the reboot of the film stack up?

Wii U First Week Sales On The Light Side, Down 33% From Wii Launch

I’m in your stores, bogarting your palettes.

Nintendo came out today to exclaim their biggest hardware week in some time this week with 1.2 million units sold. Between three major platforms, it sounds like a big deal, but as a separate deal, especially as the launch week for Nintendo’s newest (and only sixth ever) new home console, the numbers weren’t quite so rosey.
