What’s With All the CES Hate?
Lonely sign…
CES starts tomorrow but there has already been so much content coming from Las Vegas you would’ve thought it started on Sunday. I’ve actually never been to CES and have always wanted to go. I like gadgets and stuff so I figured it would be a cool place to check out. A lot of tech journalist seem to disagree though. Read the rest of this article…
Angry Birds Star Wars (iOS) Review: Full Of Pork
A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, I was appointed to review Angry Birds Star Wars. And since then, I’ve been delaying this article for as long as I possibly could. It’s one thing to review a sequel that introduces new, improved game mechanics and an original story. It’s another thing to review a carbon copy with superficial changes that ruins an already over milked franchise.

CES 2013: Nvidia Unveils Shield Gaming Handheld, But Is There A Market?
It looks like every Xbox handheld mock turned to real life.
Last night, Nvidia brought us something new: a gaming handheld. When you think of Nvidia, you probably think of graphics cards or Tegra chips, but a whole new Android-powered console probably wasn’t on the top of your list. Marrying an Xbox 360-style controller to a 5″ multi-touch display, complete with the ability to stream games processing on your PC to your TV, or on the portable’s screen itself, Nvidia has opened a whole new door of portable gaming experiences. But, will it work when other technological marvels like the PS Vita have failed?

Retro City Rampage (PC) Review: Grand Theft Auto, If Pixel-Deep
Have you ever dreamed of an 8-bit Grand Theft Auto? Here it is, for better or worse.
There comes a point, in examining something so fatally flawed, where you wonder how deep it goes. At what point in the creation process did things go wrong? Retro City Rampage, a downloadable title for virtually every platform on the planet, seems to have gone down the wrong course in the first few moments of development. Once created to be a mere 8-bit recreation of Grand Theft Auto III, developer Brian Provinciano decided to skip around the copyright debacle and develop an original game. Then, he decided to pump it full of nostalgic references. Full. To the gills and spilling out the sides. Somewhere in there, that’s where things went wrong for Retro City Rampage.

Hyde Park on Hudson Review: What’s the Point?
By June 1939, President Franklin D. Roosevelt was in the midst of an affair with his sixth cousin, Margaret Suckley. Also in June 1939, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, in an effort to convince the United States to enter World War II, traveled to Roosevelt’s estate in Hyde Park, New York. Other than the fact that both events were happening at the same time, what does the King of England visiting America have to do with the President fucking his cousin? Absolutely nothing. Which begs the question: Why was Hyde Park on Hudson made in the first place?

John Dies at the End Review: Just Read the Book
In 2001, author David Wong (whose real name is Jason Pargin) began writing an untitled web serial about two slackers who begin to see terrifying things after downing an alien drug known only as “soy sauce.” Since parts of the serial novel were autobiographical, Pargin changed the name of his protagonist to David Wong and the name of the best friend to John Cheese. The story was dark, twisted, frightening, and extremely funny. Reading it is like reading the collected works of H.P. Lovecraft crossed with Kevin Smith’s Clerks, but better. The online serial became a cult hit and was eventually edited into a 400 page novel and published under the title John Dies at the End. Wong followed that book up with a sequel this past year titled This Book Is Full of Spiders. Why am I giving all of this history on the books, you’re asking? Because you should read the books and skip the movie.

OUYA Has Competition – GameStick Launches Kickstarter Campaign
Whoa, the console is in the controller!
We’ve talked about OUYA and how everyone thought it was vaporware. Just recently OUYA shipped developer consoles out with early early early UI and without a final version of the controller. After seeing GameStick, I am 100% convinced that neither of these are vaporware. GameStick looks to be a direct competitor of OUYA with cheaper cost and being more portable. Oh, It’s Time For CES Again. What’s CES Again?
It’s like E3, but for televisions and tech! But mostly, televisions.
I’m a huge fan of the Consumer Electronics Show, an expo that’s been around almost as long as my parents, but maybe it’s because I’m a big nerd. I knew kids in high school that wanted to go to E3, a life goal achieved as quickly as possible after high school, but no one was ever excited about CES. Well, now it’s time for CES, again. Already. Soon, 150,000 people will flood the desert oasis of Las Vegas to view the latest and greatest technology and toys from the far corners of the Earth. Unfortunately, we won’t be there, but we can be just as excited about it. Maybe moreso.

Coming Soon! The 10 Games I Can’t Wait To Get My Hands On In 2013 And Beyond – Part 2
The other 5 titles I’d punch my own mother to get my hands on
A couple of days ago I banged out an article talking about depression and anxiety and getting all emo because the world is in a shambles and how the only cure for my fever is more video games. In that article I talked about 5 of the 10 titles which are coming out this year or in the near future that I absolutely must get my hands on and promised that I would finish up the rest of the list today so here it is.
Again, in no particular order:
